Woodstock was that iconic rock festival that music junkies of my age bracket would only dream of attending. And it’s back, again. Spin magazine is reporting that one of the co founders of the festival is bringing a three day Anniversary concert to New York this summer.
I vaguely remember it making an appearance some years ago…something about setting port a potties on fire and mob rioting. Let’s hope for a smooth ride this year. Lord willing, I’ll be there. May the spirit of the late great Jimi Hendrix light the way.
First and foremost, f*ck TMZ and everybody who loves them. It is my humble opinion as a consistent student of mass media and a backing B.S. degree *pops collar* that TMZ is responsible for ruining the lives of celebrities across the globe. They expose people at their weakest moments (remember Amy Winehouse) and metaphorically party on the downfalls that celebrities face…for f*cks sake, celebrities are people too. Also, what type of world do we live in, where we care SOOO much about pop culture? Shouldn’t we be more concerned with raising our children, getting our portfolios together and making the world a better place? This post is for everyone who is sick of celebrity news…God bless you. Check out this article (which is speculation at this point) about The New Yorker and the promise of perpetually sticking it to TMZ. We are saved.
Let me begin this post by asking “what the hell is going on in the world today?”
Check out the News Story Before Gray’s Death
As many of you are aware, or soon to be, another murder occurred at the hands of the police department. This time it happened in Baltimore City…again. Freddie Gray was chased down by the Baltimore City Police Department, arrested, and died days later with a spinal chord injury. How did that happen, you ask? Footage was released of Gray screaming while they dragged him to the Police patty wagon. We can assume he was already assaulted, but somewhere between the arrest and transportation, he magically ended up in the hospital in a coma. I’m no rocket scientist, nor am I a reporter, activist, or mortician, but my bet is riding on the cops fucking shit up…yet again.
For those of you who have been hiding under a rock, the police across America have been straight up killing Blacks for the past few years. Some cases have been publicly showcased while others have been kept on the hush. You can literally google a slew of names of people who have been killed by the police JUST THIS YEAR. I remember about a year ago, a young man by the name of Tyrone West was murdered in police custody and the case was overlooked…right here in Baltimore City. I would like to salute his family for protesting on what they call “West Wednesdays”, to occupy city hall as they were asking for a full autopsy report on their beloved deceased.
In any event, as people around the U.S. are getting fed up, please keep several things in mind:
- The militarization of the Police is underway. What a great way to spark off a one world government!
- Do not be deceived. Everything happens for a reason. Did anyone stop to ask how such hatred on Blacks can occur at the helm of America’s first Black President? Just drink that in for a moment…
- One day it’ll all make sense. No matter who or what you believe in, your prayer should be for a brighter day…a better world…an end to the fuckery at some cost or another.
- What are YOU going to do about injustice? Are we as a people still waiting for the next MLK to come out and spark a change?
I find my rants on this here blog leading me to the same conclusion each time I type. Love is the answer. I am SO proud of each and every activist, every protester, everyone who ever shed a tear at the thought of injustice.
Let’s love one another.
