Selective Oblivion and the Many Who Sleep

I was talking to a good friend of mine the other day about the fuckery…also, known as the world we live in. It occurred to us both that people have a way of seeing what they want to see, when it comes to social/economic/political issues. The fact that the movie Straight Outta Compton is doing well in theaters across the globe, is dope. God bless the hip hop.But it makes me wonder why such a movie would be released at such a time.In other words, is this by design?

In the movie, the artist (NWA) experienced racial profiling/police brutality…just like some other blacks I know. Just like I have. Just as many of you do. Just as we’ve been seeing as numbers of cops killing Blacks drastically increase almost daily. Everyday is a #BlackLivesMatter moment. A #JusticeFor(fill in name here) rally.

What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun. -Ecclesiastes1:9 (NIV)

In any event, I remember learning about the Rodney King beating. But today, we see a whole new breed of hate, as police are straight up killing blacks worldwide. I hear musicians speaking out about injustice and encouraging people to stand with us in the struggle. Any of this sound familiar?

Why would you release a ‘Black Power’ movie at a ‘Black Power’ time. Do you want “riots”? There is an underlying theme here…and somebody’s still sleeping.

The bottom line is that everything happens for a reason. And while media is fighting to start a race war under the leadership of a Black President, it makes me wonder who is sleep? Who is falling into the trap? I think much of what goes on this world is by choice. What you choose to believe…what you choose to see…

From Ferguson to Baltimore

Let me begin this post by asking “what the hell is going on in the world today?”

Blacks

Check out the News Story Before Gray’s Death

As many of you are aware, or soon to be, another murder occurred at the hands of the police department. This time it happened in Baltimore City…again. Freddie Gray was chased down by the Baltimore City Police Department, arrested, and died days later with a spinal chord injury. How did that happen, you ask? Footage was released of Gray screaming while they dragged him to the Police patty wagon. We can assume he was already assaulted, but somewhere between the arrest and transportation, he magically ended up in the hospital in a coma. I’m no rocket scientist, nor am I a reporter, activist, or mortician, but my bet is riding on the cops fucking shit up…yet again.

For those of you who have been hiding under a rock, the police across America have been straight up killing Blacks for the past few years. Some cases have been publicly showcased while others have been kept on the hush. You can literally google a slew of names of people who have been killed by the police JUST THIS YEAR. I remember about a year ago, a young man by the name of Tyrone West was murdered in police custody and the case was overlooked…right here in Baltimore City. I would like to salute his family for protesting on what they call “West Wednesdays”, to occupy city hall as they were asking for a full autopsy report on their beloved deceased.

In any event, as people around the U.S. are getting fed up, please keep several things in mind:

  • The militarization of the Police is underway. What a great way to spark off a one world government!
  • Do not be deceived. Everything happens for a reason. Did anyone stop to ask how such hatred on Blacks can occur at the helm of America’s first Black President? Just drink that in for a moment…
  • One day it’ll all make sense. No matter who or what you believe in, your prayer should be for a brighter day…a better world…an end to the fuckery at some cost or another.
  • What are YOU going to do about injustice? Are we as a people still waiting for the next MLK to come out and spark a change?

I find my rants on this here blog leading me to the same conclusion each time I type. Love is the answer. I am SO proud of each and every activist, every protester, everyone who ever shed a tear at the thought of injustice.

Let’s love one another.
