[Thoughts] God and The Created You

I found myself in prayer in a “what if God were one of us” existential moment. I visit this meditation often. In fact, as a devout Christian I do believe Jesus is God and once walked planet earth in human form like many of us. Peace to any androids reading this post. However, as I drove to work this morning, in reflection, I pondered the emotions we encompass in this realm and how Jesus was able to navigate them in his physical form. I also wondered who Christ was/is as a man, outside of the mysteries written. I get excited at these times in wonder, so please try to follow me…

For all educational purposes, the Christian faith acknowledges Jesus Christ to be the son of God, and God in the flesh, and God in Spirit. Jesus was there, in the book of Genesis before Adam and he also was there in the book of Matthew with Mary. He is here, right now. In Genesis 1, God created the heavens and earth, later creating man (Adam/Eve) in his own image. I’ve always wondered why he did any of this at all and then why create man in his image none the less.

John 1:1 NIV- In the Beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:14 NIV-The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Was God bored? What inspired God to make all of creation? Did he feel the way I feel when I crack open a fresh set of acrylic paints and new brushes? Have you ever stood on a beach and watched the water in awe of the ocean waves? You know, those moments where you linger there for a long while, deep in thought, sometimes inspired. Have you wondered if God felt that way in Genesis 1:2 when the Spirit of God hovered over the waters in darkness? I wonder what God does for fun.

Have you paid attention to Genesis 2:18 when God decided to make Adam a helper because he was lonely? Have you ever wondered if God made you because he was alone and could use a friend? Can he count on you as a friend?

What if he created everything and THEN created mankind so we could share all that he made. The other day a friend directed me to Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, and self-actualization being the highest point in one’s journey. I am taken back to the book of Genesis, and the act of God making everything that was ever made out of nothing at all. Not so much the actualization, because he already always was, and is, but the highest self in creativity itself. For me personally, when I am in an artsy mood or painting/designing, I feel the closest to God. When I am kind to someone who isn’t the kindest to me, I think of the heart of God and what loving others may look like in real time. I sometimes wonder if Jesus was tired of always being recognized, followed and asked for favors…sort of like how I get fed up with people at work needing things from me. I wonder then, if we try to search for the good in ourselves, can we then find the most beautiful characteristics of God himself?

  2. Good morning. Your thoughts this morning are amazing and profound. I have gotten lost in my thoughts feeling inspired watching the oceans crash again the land. It’s actually a moment God speaks so clear any time I watch it or hear the sounds of the ocean. To think what did God think when he looked at the oceans its exciting to ponder the answer. You have a strong relationship with Jesus Christ because you ask questions only someone who spends time with God would think of. God bless you and thank you for this beautiful food for thought this weekend. Your sister in Christ.- Another Christian
